Figuring out how to start deep rooted plants like sweet peas in soil blocks (an amazing method of plastic free seed starting) has always been a challenge. The deep tap roots quickly outgrow the blocks, so for a while I tried using toilet paper rolls (they dried out too quickly, soil fell out the bottom or they rotted), but this year I finally used my brain and decided to stack the soil blocks one on top of the other. I use a wooden toothpick to hold them together and they’ve been working great!
